In addition to weight loss exercise programs, the professionals at Altima Physio will educate you about the importance of hydration and nutrition, and their involvement in losing weight.
Hydration:
· Drink at least 2.5L of water per day – this does not include during your workout · While exercising, continuously drink water (about 10oz every 10 min)
Nutrition:
· By cutting out 500-1000kcal per day, you can safely and effectively lose 1-2lbs every week.
To start, follow these dietary guidelines:
· 2 portions of fish per week (at least one that is rich in omega-3; ie salmon or trout) · 2 portions of protein rich food per day · 5 portions of starchy foods per day (high in fiber) · At least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables per day
· 3 portions of dairy per day (low fat)
· Choose water instead of pop or juice
· Look for labels “reduced” or “no added salt”
